Just a mention of the word Mango makes my younger one happy. She loves mangoes and can have it in any form. Even if it’s sour, unripe or overripe, she can have it all.

I am sure all kids love mangoes and look forward to the summer season to have them. Many healthy mango recipes are there for kids to enjoy.

Different types of mangoes grown in India are-

  • There are many other like Neelam, Langra, Fazli, Totapuri, Amarpalli, Mallika, Mulgoa, and Gulabkhas etc.

Many delicacies and dishes worldwide use mangoes with different recipes. Chutneys and pickles are made with unripe mangoes. We all love eating unripe mangoes called as ‘Ambi’ with some black salt or chaat masala.

One of my favourite and healthy mango recipes is Mango shake which we make every day in our house in summers. I give a normal mango shake a twist by sometimes adding other fruits like strawberry or bananas to it.

Also, I add a dollop of vanilla ice-cream to make it creamier and tasty. It is a good option for our picky eaters.

Mango salad is a good option too in summers. I add it in chopped form with vegetables like cucumber and peppers. Also, you can add little pomegranate to it with some lemon juice and salt to taste.

Mango chaat is another good option for kids in summers. Add diced mangoes to a corn chaat with other ingredients. I am sure, kids are going to enjoy all these recipes.

Do you know the health benefits of mangoes?

  • Mangoes are rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A. One cup of mango can give a good amount of Vitamin A which is very good for the eyes. It is present in the form of beta-carotene. And gets further converted to Vitamin A.
  • It has a good amount of fiber content and pectin. The fiber helps in good digestion as it is a probiotic fiber.
  • Mangoes have a low glycemic index, so a small piece or two is ok for a diabetic too. (Provided your sugar levels are under control). But as it has high sugar content, eat it wisely. Do not exceed the quantity as it can lead to high blood sugar which means more calories and can, therefore, lead to weight gain.
  • Taking mango juice in summers is good for skin and overall health as it helps to cool down the body.
  • It is good for the immune system.
  • It is a source of 20 vitamins and minerals.

Do you know it can be a part of our beauty regime too?

Mango peel is good for glowing skin. The collagen present in the peel can help to prevent wrinkles and aging of the skin. Use it in face packs to get glowing skin. All the yellow-orange fruits like mango detoxify and bring glow as it contains Vitamin C and Beta-carotene.

I am sure it is everyone’s favourite fruit and we all wait for summers just for mangoes. It is rightly called King of fruits. 🙂
