I travelled to the US with my husband for the first time after few months of marriage. Initially, I found it very different and very lonely. But slowly got used to the country and loved it as we made some great Indian friends there.
We stayed there for almost 6 years and both my daughters were born in the US too. Even though we loved it there and enjoyed a lot but something was missing. We always used to miss our family back home, especially on the special occasions and festivals.
We came back in 2006 and it’s been 10 years now. The biggest reason for us to come back was family. So, India means Family and family’s love.
It’s been almost 10 years since we came back. We came back in 2006 when my younger one was born and it’s been a roller coaster ride since we came back. I lost my mother in law and both my parents in a span of few years after coming back. But, when I look back, I feel it was one of the reasons we came back. I am happy that I was with them in last few years and got to spend some time with all of them.
That’s the biggest reason but that’s not the only reason. I am thankful for many little things, the love, bonding, friends, and above all ‘Unity in diversity’ which makes our country different from any other country in the world.

Even we moved to US a year ago and Iam already feeling to move back. I miss my friends and family (parents and inlaws)most especially on special occasions like birthdays and celebrations and festivals. I think, however clean and organized the other countries might be, there is always something missing. Home is the place which gives peace and it is only India for me.

Your heart is where your family is. True. I would never want to leave India for similar reasons.
