About the Book-

I love two things – Food and books. Being a foodie, I enjoy reading books about food and recipes.

Mayuri’s first book- ‘26 Favourite Foods and a little bit of me’ caught my attention as it’s not only about food but also about some sweet tales from her personal life.

Dal dhokli from Gujarat to Obattu from Karnataka, there is a mention of different food items from different parts of India. It is true that food connects us all. This book shows us how all our states have different cuisines and still, we are connected through our different flavours.

Writing about food requires a love for food and in this book Mayuri’s love for food is visible.

Foods

It is filled with sounds, smell and flavours of food from all over India. The stories from her personal life at the end of each food item makes it more interesting. I came to know about different foods from different states of India through this book. I have never heard about few of them like Adhirasam from Tamil Nadu, Belgavi Kunda from Karnataka, and Ukdiche Modak from Maharashtra. My favorite chapter is about a food item from Andhra Pradesh – Putharekulu as the story made me smile.

What I liked about the book-

I loved how she related her favorite foods with her everyday life. The best part of the book is that it is different. It is not like a usual food book which talks only about either recipes or the science behind the food. Her book gives a wonderful and mouth-watering reading experience.

The book is funny, enlightening and easy to read.

Something to add-

The only thing I missed in this book are the pictures. I wish Mayuri would have added pictures to every food item. Although I am familiar with many food items she mentioned, some of them are new to me. The pictures would have made it easier for a reader like me to get a better idea of the new food items.

A Roundup-

Are you a foodie? Do you love eating and exploring new places? Look no further as it is a must-read for every foodie and food lover. It is a book for those who love good food and stories. In stories, everything is there, excitement, heartbreaks, fun, and honest views.

This book is yummyliciously good. You have to read it to know more. 🙂
