Bangalore is famous for its lovely weather and the greenery. There are many places to see on a weekend with your kids and also enjoy the lovely weather. As a mom, I know how difficult it is to choose a place to go out with kids on a weekend. Most of us just keep on searching for child-friendly places to see and ultimately it’s just an outing to a nearby mall.
I took my kids to all these fun picnic places when they were small and made a list to help all the moms who find it difficult to find a place for them.
A list of Bangalore fun picnic places to go with your kids on a weekend-
Lalbagh botanical gardens –
It is a famous botanical garden in the heart of the city. Its greenery is a good change from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are some interesting things to show your kids like, the Bonsai garden, fossilized tree truck which is few thousand years old and a very old rock with the information about the park.
The garden is well maintained and lush green all year round but if you want to see a lot of flowers you should visit during the blooming season. It’s best to go during the time when there are exhibitions. They have beautiful flower show on 15th August and 26th January. You may not find the garden similar on all the months but it is always worth a visit for nature lovers.
As it’s a big park and with small kids, it’s difficult to walk, they also have a golf cart tours to show you around the garden. 
Cubbon Park –
It is another famous garden in the heart of the city and Bangalore is called a Garden city because of these beautiful green parks. It is a nice green park to go for a picnic with your kids especially on weekends as there are some activities which keep on happening there. Also, It is home to many exotic trees with open places for kids to just enjoy and play.
There is a library inside and an aquarium nearby for kids too. If your kids like toy train ride, there is a park opposite it which has rides available for a ticket. Also, very nearby there is Vishveshwariya museum which is another interesting place to show your kids.
Bal Bhawan –
It is a part of Cubbon park and is called Jawahar Bal Bhawan. It is a recreation center for kids created by government. A lot of activities happen here and it has a toy train ride, library, swings etc. They also organise activities during school breaks like creative writing camp and many other camps, especially for kids according to different age groups.
You can plan a visit along with Cubbon park and recommended if you have small kids.
Bannerghatta national park –
It is a popular tourist destination in Bangalore and most people with kids know about it. It has a zoo inside, a pet corner, a butterfly park, and an aquarium. There is also a safari park where you can go for a day safari which is highly recommended. Safari timings are 10am- 4.30pm and zoo timings are 9.30am -5pm.
On weekends, safari tickets sell out fast so it’s better to go little early.
Nandi Hills –
Our first picnic when we moved to Bangalore was at Nandi hills. It is 60 km away from Bangalore and if you are Ok to go little extra and if you love a scenic drive in lovely weather, Nandi hills is a great option. You can start little early and reach there by lunchtime to enjoy the weather and picnic with your family. It has a beautiful view from the top of the hill and some beautiful temples nearby. Bhoga Nandeeshwari is one such temple which is worth visiting as it has beautiful work of architecture. Just be little careful with food as there are quite a lot of monkeys there.
So, if you are looking for a calm weekend away from the city after hectic weekdays, head toNandii hills to recharge and rejuvenate in the lap of nature. It is surely one of the most fun picnic places of all to go with your kids.
A picnic on a cloudy day in Bangalore is perfect and all these places are great to plan one. Take some homemade food like sandwiches, cookies, juices, and fruits along with few mats to enjoy a picnic with family and friends. After living in Bangalore for 9 years, I can say that yes all these places are truly worthy to be in this list. Your post Made me remember the times which I spent in these places with my kids :))

Cubbon park is my favorite. I love visiting there every time I’m in Bangalore.
