Delhi is a city of dreams, a historical city, the capital city of India, and a foodies paradise. It is a city which you either love or hate. There is no other way. For people who are from Delhi, it is the best city in the world. On the other hand, for those who have never lived in the city, its not easy for them to get used to it.

My memories of Delhi – The capital city of India

I love Delhi and it is very near to the place where I was born and brought up. For us, Delhi was like a permanent place for all the shopping needs. I still remember visiting the popular shopping markets like Karol Bagh, Chandani Chowk, Lajpat Nagar and Connaught place with my parents. There was a special charm to the city and we loved our small shopping trips to the city.

Also, the variety of food options are great in Delhi. After staying in Bangalore for so many years, we still miss the authentic north Indian delicacies like chaat and matke ki kulfi etc. Street food joints are the best in Delhi and there is so much variety that you get confused about what to eat and what not to. Being a foodie, my husband and I try all variety of dishes as soon as we visit the city especially the pani puri and chaats.

As my native city is very near to Delhi, I also remember visiting Qutab Minar with my school for a school trip many times. The historical monuments across the city are a must see and you must show them to your kids whenever you visit. My latest memories are those of travelling in crowded metros of Delhi and visiting India gate after dinner for some yummy kulfis and ice golas.

Every city has its positives and negatives but Delhi still feels like home. I get a completely different feeling whenever I visit the city.

About Delhi – The national capital of India

Delhi is a mini India where you will find people from different cultures in different parts of the city. It has many tourist places and popular monuments like Qutab Minar, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Lotus temple, Akshardham, Red Fort, India Gate, and a new addition is the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon.

If you are visiting the city, you must try the local and popular street food options instead of the food courts in malls. There are few old food joints and popular local markets which are famous for its delicacies like khan market for chicken delicacies, Roshan di kulfi at Karol Bagh, chaats at Chandani Chowk, etc.

I love Delhi for its vibrancy, shopping destinations and of course food but I don’t like the extreme weathers there. It’s either too hot or too cold.
