Mango rice is a perfect dish for summers. Mangoes are in the season and you must try this simple, easy and healthy rice recipe.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 raw mango, peeled and finely grated
  • small onion chopped
  • Few green chillies or whole red chillies
  • 1 tbsp peanuts
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • salt - to taste
  • ¾th tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions
  1. First of all, cook rice completely by adding some salt and water and keep it aside.
  2. Now take a pan and add oil and heat it and once oil is warm, add peanuts and stir well.
  3. Now add chana dal, urad dal and cook well for few seconds.
  4. After that add whole red chillies and saute well for few seconds.
  5. Now add mustard seeds and let them crackle and add curry leaves.
  6. Add chopped onion and fry till it turns pink.
  7. After it is all done, add turmeric powder and salt as per taste and mix nicely.
  8. Add grated mango and mix well for few seconds.
  9. Now add cooked rice to it and mix well and cook for two minutes.
  10. Lastly, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Notes
You can skip green or red chillies while making it for kids.
This recipe can also give it in school lunch box.
You can choose mangoes according to your taste. If you don't like too sour, go for little ripe green mango.
