Kullu Manali is a beautiful hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh in North India. Kullu is a district and Manali is a town which is in the northern end of Kullu. Beas river flows here and it is pretty cold in winters and has moderate temperatures in summers. It’s famous for many popular temples and beautiful hills which are covered with pine trees.

My memories of Kullu Manali – Beautiful hill station

I have been to this beautiful hill station twice. First time with my parents many years back and the second time for my honeymoon.

It is a famous destination for people who want to see snow clad mountains. We went to Kullu Manali for our honeymoon and as it was January and peak winters, as soon as we reached there, it was first snowfall of the season. It started snowing while we were still on the bus and all the roads were jammed because of the traffic. We got down from our bus and walked in snow till our hotel. Although it was really cold, it was the most beautiful sight and I had never seen anything quite like that before. The first snowfall experience is always special.

We explored the town and temples on day one. On day two, we went to Rohtang pass which is famous for snow almost all year around. We mainly went to experience adventure sports but it was closed due to snowfall.

I still remember shopping for a lot of woollen clothes and shawls for our family members. There was so much variety that it was difficult to choose.

About Kullu Manali –

Kullu Manali are two different places and Kullu has famous temples and Manali has beautiful mountains and river with picturesque sceneries. It is a very popular tourist spot in summers and many people visit it to also experience adventure sports like skiing, trekking etc.

The famous tourist attractions are Hadimba Temple, Manu temple, Buddhist Monasteries, Manikaran Gurudwara which is famous for its hot spring water and many national parks etc.

It is also a great place to shop for winter wears, handicrafts and wooden items. Kullu shawls are also very popular. If you want to experience snowfall and see snow clad mountains, the best time to visit is winters otherwise summers are also a good time to visit.

If you are visiting in summers and want to experience snow, you can visit Rohtang pass. It is one of the major attractions for visitors because of its beauty and adventure sports like mountaineering, trekking and skiing etc. It is almost 51km from Kullu and it’s on the same road which connects Kullu Manali to Leh and Ladakh.

Kullu Manali has many beautiful attractions nestled in the mountains. It is one of my favourite hill stations in India. Have you been to this beautiful station yet?
