Tantrums

Terrible twos and Toddlers- I am sure these words remind all the parents of TEMPER TANTRUMS.

Do you think only toddlers throw temper tantrums? Think again.

There are two other T’s – Tween and Teen.

As a mother of a teen and a tween, I have seen it all and I believe temper tantrums are there at every stage of parenthood.

I agree ‘terrible twos’ is a tough one as it’s difficult to explain things to a 2-year-old. Tantrums and toddlers are like synonyms and it’s difficult to calm them and make them understand. My teenager was a very happy child and I don’t remember any major temper tantrums.

On the other hand, Tween gave me a hard time when she was two and I actually experienced terrible twos at that time. She would ask for stuff and demand it by crying loudly and sometimes would lie down and cry if we refuse for something. It is a complete transformation from a sweet angel to a devil child. 😀

Welcome to terrible two’s!  That is what I tell all my friends who complain about their kids between 18-36 months.

Sometimes toddlers do it just for the attention and they throw a fit if they feel no one is paying attention to them.

It is very difficult not to give in when they do it outside in front of a lot of other people watching you. But the good news is that you are not alone and it is just a phase. Also, the main trick is to stay calm yourself and I know it’s easier said than done but it can aggravate the child.

As far as teens and tweens are concerned, if they want anything they will try to convince you why a particular book or bicycle or a gadget is good for them. It’s not as bad as terrible twos but each stage has its own challenges.

It is easier if we accept it and try to change us as parents too as sometimes we as a parent feel overwhelmed with everything. So, Encourage your kids, understand them, respect them and love them. I am sure there are much more ways but these work for me. 🙂
