I am a scared and confused mom today.
Why?
Because I have two daughters and I am scared for them. As I don’t understand- Why they blame only girls for everything? She is always blamed at every stage of her life, as a child, as a young girl, as a wife or as a mom.
She is a girl, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go to school and study, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go to college and study further, it’s her fault.
She has some plans with friends, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go out at night, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go out with her friends at night, it’s her fault.
She wanted to enjoy with her friends, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go out alone, it’s her fault.
She wanted to go out for a party, it’s her fault.
She was wearing a short dress, it’s her fault.
She didn’t want her brother or husband to drop her, it’s her fault.
She said NO to that guy, it’s her fault.
She didn’t agree to go out with that guy, it’s her fault.
She didn’t get married to the boy her parents chose for her, it’s her fault.
She wanted to marry a boy of her choice, it’s her fault.
She wanted to work after marriage, it’s her fault.
She got a better job than her husband, it’s her fault.
She got a better salary package than her husband, it’s her fault.
She is not happy in her marriage, it’s her fault.
She is in an abusive marriage for many years, it’s her fault.
She got divorced finally, it’s her fault.
WHY? WHY? WHY?
Is there any answer to this question?
WHY ARE GIRLS BLAMED FOR EVERYTHING?

I don’t know the answer .But rather than asking dhy I need to do my thing .I decided to stop answering to questions. It’s liberating.People always judge.

Yes, girls have been blamed more often for something they haven’t done….A man-dominated society will need scapegoats…..but times are changing……despite the problems that the fairer sex is facing, times are changing…..

An apt post on Girl child day in India today. It’s true and sad indeed… I have two girls too and I often wonder if things are ever going to change for them.

We can only hope and better do something about it than just talking. But I guess nothing can change until our system changes. Thanks for reading Ramya 🙂

It largely reflects how regressive our society is and how deep rooted patriarchy is. Wish it changes soon.
January 26, 2017 at 7:56 pm
Yes divyakshi..it needs to be really changed. Thanks a lot for stopping by 🙂
January 28, 2017 at 4:36 pm
Sad to say that but it’s a male dominating society. Though things are changing but the pace at which they are changing is actually very slow. I just hope that people understand the meaning of treating everyone as equal. Hope all this ends soon!
January 28, 2017 at 7:37 pm
Yes Saumy..just hoping that things change soon as our male dominated society needs this change. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I think it is high time that girls stand up for their choices and rights, instead of thinking about “Log kya kahenege”.
February 6, 2017 at 6:08 pm
Yes, we need to stand up for our rights. Thanks a lot Neha for stopping by 🙂
