30th September 2016-
Excitement and fun are bound to happen when we plan a family holiday. Kerala backwaters were on our travel list for a long time. We have been to Wayanad a few years back which is another beautiful place in Kerala but backwaters are something out of the world. I will be sharing with you all journey from Bangalore to Kerala through pictures and some description to go with it.
We started on Thursday morning and took an early morning flight from Bangalore to Cochin which is just an hour flight.
Reached Cochin 11 am –
We reached Cochin and took our pre-booked taxi to go to Alleppey from Cochin. Stopped for lunch on the way and reached Alleppey around 2.30pm. We stayed in Ramada which is near the backwaters and Punnamada lake. It has a beautiful location with lake facing rooms and awesome food.
All houseboats are visible from the hotel. They were all lined up at the back and it was a beautiful view from our room.
A visit to the beach 5.30 pm-
We went to Alleppey beach in the evening and it is a beautiful and clean beach with white sand. One of the main attractions of this beach is an old pier which is 150 years old. It is also famous for its beautiful sunset.
This is how we spent our first day in Alleppey which is also known as Venice of east. When you are in Alleppey, the first thing to do is go on a backwater houseboat as it gives a wonderful experience to cherish forever. I will be writing about the houseboat experience in my next post which will be part 2.

This is somewhere I’d love to visit – Cochin always sounds so fascinating and the history of the whole area, but it would be amazing to take a houseboat through the backwaters especially. Thanks for linking up with #citytripping
