Parents are the biggest role models to their kids and they should show them the importance of health and fitness by leading with example. What better way to do so than to begin working out with your little ones. Often young mothers find it hard to find time to work out with toddlers around, therefore let’s make them a part of our workout.
- Downward Dog
With knees slightly bent, bend over and place your hands shoulder-width apart on the floor, so that your body is in the shape of an inverted V. Walk with your hands forward until you are in a plank or push up position.
Then, walk your feet forward, toward your hands, until back in the inverted V position. Repeat by again walking your hands forward to the plank position, almost in the motion of an inchworm.
Baby will mimic and crawl next to you with his bottom in the air.
- Cycling
While your little one might want to try their hands on a tricycle or a bicycle with helpers, you can cycle with them or even better brisk walk or run as the cycle next to you.
- Jumping Jacks
This is super fun for your toddlers and a very good fat burner for the young mom. All you have to do is stand straight and then jump up high in the air, raising your hands and making an X with your body. It is super easy but advisable for kids who are 3 years plus.
- Swimming
Kids love to SWIM! And what would be better than having them learn this sport early in life? Just get some floaters for your kids and get into the pool. Swimming can burn up to 400 calories in an hour, so what are you waiting for.
- Resistance bands
Resistance bands are the best equipment for a home workout and you can totally partner it with your kids. All you have to do is get seated on a mat or floor, with legs extended, place the center of the band behind the soles of your feet. Hold the band with both hands, arms extended and palms facing each other. Sit nice and tall, bend at the elbow and pull the band towards your core, squeezing your shoulder blades together. Slowly return to starting position. This is a great workout for moms to help cure any back pain that they may have. Children can try this too because there is no chance of them getting hurt anywhere.
Young moms do not have to wait for any more for their kids to grow big and then they may join the gym. They can simply get their kids involved in living a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
