Amla shots typically refer to a beverage made from the juice of Indian gooseberries, also known as amla. It is a small fruit that is known for its high vitamin C content and various health benefits. Amla shots are believed to boost immunity, improve digestion, and provide antioxidant properties.
Before we go to the recipe, let me share some health benefits of amla or Indian gooseberry.

Amla shots recipe –
- Obtain fresh amla: Look for fresh Indian gooseberries, which are usually greenish-yellow in color. You can find them at Indian grocery stores or sometimes in the produce section of supermarkets.
- Wash and chop the amla: Rinse the amla under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. Then, cut the fruit into small pieces, discarding the seeds.
- Blend or juice the amla: You have two options here. You can either use a blender to blend the chopped amla pieces with a bit of water until smooth, or you can use a juicer to extract the juice directly.
- Strain (optional): If you used a blender, strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any pulp or solids, leaving behind the clear juice. This step is optional, as some people prefer the added fiber.
- Serve and enjoy: Pour the amla juice into shot glasses or small containers and consume immediately for maximum freshness and nutrient content. You can also add a touch of honey or a pinch of salt to enhance the desired taste.
