This is story of my journey of becoming a self-taught/self-made mompreneur. As a child, I was an introvert and shy girl who never had too many friends. But transformation for me begin after I joined college as hostel life changed me and all the new exposure surely made me more confident and outgoing. So the personality traits can change over time and over experiences.
After marriage, I got to travel around a lot, not only within India but outside India and this exposure also pushed me from an introvert to extrovert. Sometimes we need to step out of our comfort zone to be more social and to do something in life.
I was still doing my masters when I got married and joined my husband after 6 months of marriage in Bangalore. And I joined Malaya hospital for internship but soon moved to US. I did some courses on food management while staying there. We decided to come back to India after staying in US for 5 years.
I wanted to work and as nobody is from business background, it was the last thing on my mind. Under my father’s guidance who was in teaching line, I did my M.Phil. in Foods and nutrition to be a lecturer. I already had two daughters by that time and younger one was just 1 year old.
Dance classes were born – Along with managing a five year old, a one year old and studies, my journey as an entrepreneur started with my passion of dancing. I started taking dance classes for kids in the evenings just to follow my passion. I never took any professional training but learnt by observing and experimenting. It was always nice to get positive feedback from others which made me more confident as a choreographer. There’s been no looking back since then and this is the way a self-taught and self-made choreographer was born.
Blogger/Writer was born- Started writing long time back but when I look back now my blogs looked like as If I was writing in my personal Diary. But I learnt a lot over the years mainly by reading, reading and reading. Finally six months back not only moved to my own space but also made my website on my own with only husband guiding me. I learnt a lot while designing my own website and it also made me more confident. My blog is like my baby which i love taking care of as it is born out of my love for writing. 🙂 So, this is the way a blogger and a website designer was born.
Freelance dietician- I started writing nutrition articles for various websites and attached with some of them for nutrition counselling. As wanted to remain in touch with my field, did lot of research and a freelance dietitian was born.
So, this is my journey of a self-taught mompreneur. I was born with some talents and mentored well and have studied significantly. I think if I can do it anybody can do it. It can be called a life well lived but it’s not the end as, ” The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.”

What a transformation! From a shy, introvert girl to a writer, a choreographer, a dietitian was a wonderful journey. And i agree with you wholeheartedly, life is a lesson and we become an ardent student if we have the receptivity in us. And this is how we grow and of course, a sure path to success! Wonderfully written Deepa.
