It was my first trip to the USA with my husband after marriage. I was nervous, excited, and curious regarding the new country. Our flight was delayed and we reached quite late. One of my husband’s office colleague was waiting for us. Once we reached, they invited us over for tea. They were the first two people whom we met in a foreign land.

So, story of our friendship started with a cup of chai 🙂

This friendship day, I dedicate this post to our friends, “Neeti and Samir”. They were the first friends who came to my mind when I heard of this contest.

We both got married in the same year, the same date and were expecting our first child around the same time too. We celebrated our first anniversary together, our kids first birthdays together. I think the reason we connected with them so well and instantly as we had a lot in common. We both loved travelling, eating out, shopping and having fun. We travelled a lot together, before kids and after kids. We loved making plans for travel together.

I am sure, if I’d met Neeti in college, we might have been bonded for life. I remember our chai time every evening after a walk. We used to go for a walk all around the town chatting and later used to stop at either one of our house every evening. After the walk, our non-stop chatting used to continue over a cup of chai with some rusks 🙂

Now, we are back in India and they are in Canada but whenever we think of good old times with good friends, we think of them. It’s been a long time since we last met and now the interaction is just through WhatsApp or Facebook messages. Busy schedules and stressful careers leave little time to rear a new friendship between people. Often, that’s just the way it is as we grow older.  But, we always have a special place in our heart for our old friends.

Our first meeting was over a cup of chai and I hope we soon meet again over a cup of chai. 🙂

As they say, “Good times + crazy friends – Amazing memories. 🙂
