I feature creative moms in this series and it is overwhelming to see all these moms managing many things together. Dancing is close to my heart and today I am featuring Ritika Keshri who is a zumba instructor. She is a master in computer applications and is a graphic designer. She was working as a graphic designer and a software test engineer before changing her field completely.

Now she is a Zumba instructor and a hands-on mom for her twin boys.

I know Ritika as a warm, passionate and energetic person, and somebody who has a lot of passion for dance.

Read about her journey to know how she became a Zumba instructor from a graphic designer.

How did you start Zumba classes and how long you have been taking?

Dance is my passion from childhood. Dream to become fitness instructor started long back in 2008 when I got introduced to step aerobics classes just after my post twin’s pregnancy. It helped me a lot to regain my strength and overcome post-pregnancy stress. I picked up so well that my instructor suggested me to go for certification and start my own classes but due to my twins who were few months old, I didn’t get enough time to think about anything else.

Even though I started working in MNC but I was never satisfied with late office hours. When I enrolled myself for Zumba classes back in 2013, it was clear that I want to take it further from student to instructor. I left my job and I did Zumba certification in 2014 and started my own class. It has been more than 2.5 years now happily taking forward this passion.

Did you attend any classes to learn Zumba?

Yes, I went to step aerobics and Zumba class before undergoing Zumba certification.

What age group you prefer to teach?

I love to work with all ages from Teens to ladies but prefer ladies as I can understand their problem and needs.

 What is your inspiration?

There was a life changing incident which taught me a hard lesson to stay active & fitness became very important part of my life. In 2006, I suffered from peripheral nervous system disorder (Guillain-Barre syndrome) due to very cold weather in Canada. I was almost paralyzed and bed ridden, it also affected my respiratory system, legs, hands, and face and it took more than 6 months to get back to normal. The only thing which helped me during that phase was physiotherapy exercise and my will power.

Most important tip for other mompreneurs?

Follow your dreams, nothing is impossible and age is just a number. So, chase your dreams.

“We may fail sometimes but won’t regret that we never tried enough “.

What is your vision? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I would love to get more knowledge and work in the field of pre and post pregnancy problems. Help ladies and teens to overcome their stress and improve fitness. I will definitely try my dreams in the theater as well.

Describe Zumba in 3 words and what is your favourite part of being a Zumba instructor?

Fun Fitness dance. Dance moves and Interaction with people.

Why did you leave your job and decided to start classes?

It was really difficult to manage kids and job. After juggling for few years I decided to follow my dreams.

I would like to thank my husband for always encouraging me to follow my dreams.
