What is a parfait?
A parfait is a rich, cold, dessert made with many different ingredients. It is mostly served in a tall glass or a glass jar with different layers of fruits, cream, milk, and yogurt etc.
A parfait is the best option for a healthy breakfast. If everyday morning you break your head to find something healthy for breakfast, a parfait is an answer to all your queries. The best part is that you can make it with different ingredients every day to give it a variety.
Today I am sharing my favourite Breakfast Fruit and Granola Parfaits. You can even give it to your kids in the mornings as it’s much easy to make and healthy too. A quick and easy recipe is always welcome on busy school mornings. You can just soak chia seeds or oats at night and next day morning you just have to assemble the fresh fruits and sprinkle some granola and serve.
Pineapple and pomegranate parfait is a healthy breakfast option. It has oats, Chia seeds, fresh fruits, and granola. What else one needs?
I make it with different fruits but pomegranate is my favourite. As it mango season, you can add fresh mangoes to your parfaits. It tastes great and is healthy too.
Chia seeds benefits –
- high fiber content
- helps in diabetes as it slows down digestion
- loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids
- High in calcium and manganese.
Benefits of other ingredients –
- Fruits provide fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
- Granola is loaded with fiber and it’s better if you use the one which is low in fat and sugar.
This parfait is not only delicious but very healthy with benefits of antioxidants, magnesium, manganese, calcium and lots of protein.
You can soak oats overnight and use them to make parfaits next day morning to make yummy and easy and nutritious breakfast parfait.
- ½ cup oats
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup milk
- Optional: 1-2 teaspoons of natural sweetener like honey
- ¼ cup fresh pomegranate
- ¼ cup fresh pineapple
- 2tbsp granola
- Soak oats and chia seeds with milk overnight in a bowl, jar or
any airtight container. You can add honey at this stage if you want. - Seal the container properly and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
- In the morning, layer it with pomegranate seeds and pineapple slices.
- Lastly, add granola on the top and enjoy.
If you are trying it for the first time and getting used to the taste, you can add sugar or honey.
You can also use non-fat, plain or flavored yogurt in this parfait in place of oats and chia seeds.
I use many different fruits in parfaits like apples, oranges, and banana. The best part is that you can go creative with and include or exclude anything according to your liking.
For a parfait with yogurt, take a tall glass, add yogurt at the bottom, add granola and fruits in layers and repeat.
