I have some great memories of family holidays with my parents and siblings. My dad loved travelling and every summer vacations we used to go to either a hill station or some other place. I and my husband also love travelling and every few months we pack our bags to explore a new place.
Today I am sharing a list of must visit places with kids in summer.
- Jammu and Kashmir- Although many people feel it’s not safe to go there due to all the problems, it is the most beautiful place on my list. Gulmarg is one of the best places to see there and kids are surely going to enjoy it as there are many activities to do like take a ride in Gulmarg Gondola, skiing, horseback ride, camping, and trekking.
- Himachal Pradesh– It has many beautiful hill stations but my favourite is Shimla, Kullu Manali, and Kasauli. I have been to Shimla many times in childhood with my parents. And a few years back went with there my girls too. If you want to see snow, Kufri is the place to explore near Shimla but I am not sure if you will get to see any snow in peak summers. Kullu Manali is my favourite and there are many memories associated with this one. I cannot express its beauty in words. Visit it to see for yourself. Rohtang pass is a place to see snow near Kullu Manali and Solang valley has an option of skiing and paragliding etc. Kasauli is another small town which is good for a short weekend break with kids.
- Uttrakhand- Nainital is the famous hill station in this region with beautiful lakes. It has Naini Lake, gurney house, Kilbury bird sanctuary, and eco cave gardens which can be surely enjoyed by kids. I went there with my parents but I am yet to take my daughters to Nainital. We are looking forward to a trip to Nainital. A good thing about Nainital is that it has a great weather throughout the year. Another hill station in this state is Mussoorie. We used to visit Mussoorie a lot as it was my dad’s favourite hill station. A few years back, we took our daughters there too. It has a famous waterfall called Kempty falls where my daughters enjoyed a lot. Other than that, there are many gardens and a mall road which is common to all hill stations.
- Kerala- Munnar, and Wayanad are beautiful places to go with kids this summer. Munnar has beautiful tea plantations and kids will surely enjoy Tea museum, Eravikulam national park and Periyar Tiger reserve at Thekkady near Munnar.
- Karnataka- Coorg is another favourite place for me and although I have gone twice, I can still go again. It is a hill station which is 260 km from Bangalore and best for nature’s lovers. You can read more about Coorg in my post here.
- Tamil Nadu- Ooty, Conoor, Kodai Kanal are all beautiful hill stations in Tamil Nadu. Coonoor is famous for its tea plantations and Nilgiri tea. Ooty also called as queen of hill stations has many tourist spots to enjoy with kids like the botanical garden and rose garden. I felt Coonoor is better as Ooty has become little commercialised. Kodaikanal is a very beautiful hill station. It is called princess of hills and it is not as commercialised as Ooty. It has places like Kodai Lake, Bear shola falls and Coakers walk etc. to enjoy with kids.
There are many more places to visit in India with kids but these are few from my list. Have you visited any of these places with your kids? Let me know any more you know to add to my list.
